Hello my baby...

...hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal. Something of the barbershop about these confections, topped as they are in red and white tassels, and lined in red. They complete the new PhD robes for the University of Malta, and we are not a little bit proud to have been asked to make them. Mother Prioress has remained staunchly silent on the subject, but was last seen chuntering away about Brighton Rock.

Red Alert #2

Here with four blades, red piping, pom-pom and lining, is the Biretta of a Doctor of Sacred Theology. Red is the Pontifical University colour of Theology Faculties; other colours include pink, and purple. Naturally we’re looking forward to making them all as soon as we can.

Back to Black #4

From not enough ‘ears’ to one too many, we now present an entirely black biretta with four blades. It is worn by clergy in some German dioceses, particularly the Diocese of Münster, as well as Canons Regular and Doctors of Divinity.

There is something positive to be said for the symmetry of the thing, certainly, but one cannot help but wonder how exactly you can know if you have it on the right way round; answers on a gift-aid envelope to DB Towers, please.
