Green Light # 3

Following on from our green theme, today we proudly present to you a more modest Latin biretta, lined in green. This is the biretta of a canon of Almeria cathedral in Spain. Our more geographically minded brethren will know immediately that this is Spain we are dealing with, and the more precise, or pedants as Mother Prioress would say, will question why then such a hat is not a Bonete. It transpires that the Chapter of Almeira Cathedral at some point opted for the more usual Latinate hat, which may also explain its somewhat subdued appearance.

  1. I think the Order of St Lazarus use green tufts on their birettas, too.
