The Mighty Augustinian

We now move into the territory of the somewhat exotic, for today we proudly present to you: The Augustinian. This is a take on an image of Fr Alfred Hope Patten wearing his 'CSA Biretta' in Michael Yelton's Alfred Hope Patten: His Life and Times in Pictures. As well as a few chance sightings of such items at Anglo-Catholic gatherings.

We imagined it being twice the height of a normal Biretta, but we are open to correction. Other Biretta enthusiasts claim the 'Ambrosian Biretta' is more likely to have been the model for Hope Patten, a middle way between the usual height and this sky high example. We invite comment, but remind all that all this is done in a spirit of love and indeed fun.

This example is gaberdine, with merino wool pompom and a black lining.
